Dangers of Plastic Surgery

Dangers of Plastic Surgery

With plastic surgery procedures on the rise in the past years, it is important to educate the public of not only its benefits but also the dangers of plastic surgery. Having higher, faster, and better technology does not translate to the riddance of risks and side effects.

If highly qualified plastic surgeons are involved, the risks and dangers are less. However, since each person differs from one another in terms of medical history, the dangers vary from person to person when cosmetic procedures are carried out.

The most common danger associated with plastic surgery is bleeding. Although bleeding expected after a surgical procedure, when left untreated, may result in complications. Hematoma may develop due to blood clotting which affects skin color. Large hematoma may lead to further issues like infection and necrosis. Another problem that may arise is the formation of Seroma. It is an accumulation of fluid under the skin which requires drainage or compression.
